Cervical Cancer Screening Status Among Women Living With HIV/AIDs in Malawi: A Cross-Sectional Study

Worldwide, cervical cancer (CC) is the fourth most common among women. Approximately 90% of cases occur in resource limited countries. Malawi one developing countries with highest incidence (ASR 67.9 per 100,000) cc and number deaths 51.5 from world. More than 80% Malawian women diagnosed CC are at inoperable stage suffer co-infection HIV. The purpose this situation-specific theory guided study was to examine screening status factors affecting living HIV infection aged 18-50 support groups Malawi. A two proportionate stratified cluster random sampling method used select 291 respondents. findings indicated that prevalence rate 27.8%; had a high knowledge level positive attitude towards screening. Despite regarding screening, still low. independently associated were: employment, OR = 6.37 (95% CI: 1.32, 30.80), =1.11 1.03, 1.20), attitude, 1.43 1.04, 1.97) social networks =6.8 1.41, 32.76).
